In 2005 the Secretaria de Salud del estado de Coahuila asked Alfonso Rosas for the design and painting of the mural inside the Instituto de Geriatria located in the city of Saltillo, Coahuila Mexico.
Currently called Hospital del Adulto Mayor, this modern building is dedicated to the hospital care of the elderly.
The mural is 3.5 x 14 meters and it shows an alternate vision at the last stage of life. The old age, as the inevitable whereabouts of every human being, is shown with hope, melancholy, and happiness. Painted with acrylic and in an ocher monochrome, this work was done from the interpretation of the artist’s point of view.
The hospital opened on November 29, 2005 and is currently working.
