La Bartola, mexican and revolutionary name, was the topic to follow for the design and execution of the murals of this restaurant.
Located in the city of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico this restaurant opened on September 2006. The mural paintings of the first floor were compositions of caricature with realism.
Alfonso wanted to create a fun and visually attractive space, he did by painting with acrylic revolutionary common topics such as adelitas, trains, and soldiers. In a monochrome of ocher and sepia the caricatures interact directly with the realism of the ancient photographs of the Mexican Revolution.
In the second floor images of actors of Mexico’s most famous movies are found. Actors such as Maria Felix, Pedro Armendariz, Jorge Negrete and Pedro Infante were painted creating an art ambiance.
Unfortunately this restaurant closed two years after its opening and all the murals were erased, leaving only photographs of what the place used to be.
